In your profile Settings, change "Default Thread Subscription Mode:" to "Instantly, using email". Is that sufficient?
If it's referring to real email, I'd pass. I don't want a bunch of speedsolving related emails, nor do I check the email that's linked to this account regularly. If there was a way to link it to forum notifications instead, that would be preferable.

Also, if it's just a thread subscription email, wouldn't we get emails even for posts that aren't replies to our own posts? This doesn't sound different than the thread subscription option that's already there.

Personally I wouldn't like them to be in notifications, unless it was something you could turn on and off. I'd prefer to keep notifications for important stuff that doesn't happen often (i.e. PMs).

You can set it to "through my control panel only" and then all of them would show up on your control panel. And yes, it would be a thread subscription, just like on Facebook. Are you thinking more of a notification whenever you're quoted? That could potentially be implemented, though you'd miss out on all the times when someone replies to you but doesn't quote you.

If implemented it would be optional.
