    With 2x2, when the cuber in question can 1-look solves, I understand how and why you can call it executing a single alg. But that doesn't change the fact that it is an entire solve. Proper start/stop procedure is used for 2x2 even if it IS just doing a single alg (that he just made up on the spot) because that is how it would be done in a competition. How would PLL (or OLL, CxLL, etc.) be done in a competition? You would already be IN THE MIDDLE OF THE SOLVE, and therefore you would already have the cube in your hands.
