Default My christmas gifts + questions

I had gotten quite a few things already this year, (we celebrate early, weird, I know) and I'll just post about the cube related ones:
    Mini QJ 4x4
    Lanlan 2x2
    A-V 3x3
Some picture 3x3 (sucks so bad)
Rubik's 5x5 (I know... and I already had one lol)

    Few things:
For the 3x3, I am set, I have an F-II, Guhong and A-V (soon to be modded.) For the 2x2, I don't need anymore than the Lanlan, so I'm happy. For the 4x4, I really like the mini QJ, but I've heard bad things about it being to fragile, so I dunno. For the 5x5...

Alright, so for the mini QJ, would you recommend lubing it with silicone? I siliconed my store bought 4x4 and it made it so much worse (it's uncontrollable and is pop-crazy.) Also, if the mini QJ breaks, what cube would you recommend as a replacement?

As for the Lanlan 2x2, I can't see how lubing it would benefit much, but would you suggest doing so?

And finally, the 5x5, I'm sick of the damn Rubik's brand, it sucks, end of story. So, I want a replacement, but if possible, I wish to avoid the V-cube 5 (Guhong related, silly, maybe) so what else would you suggest? I heard the eastsheen isn't nearly as good.

And if there is anything that I missed that I should know, please inform me. Thanks for reading, happy christwanzanakah!

EDIT:How the hell do you reassemble the Mini QJ 4x4? I'm an ***** and can't find a video...

I would loosen your lanlan2x2 and then lube it with maru or crc
if you dont mind v-cube KOs you could get a ghosthand 5x5

I wouldn't buy an eastsheen 5x5, they really suck. No fingertricks possible, tension is way too loose (I tried to change it, but it doesn't work), it doesn't pop, but locks up A LOT!!!

You can assemble the Mini QJ 4x4 the same way as the Rubik's 4x4.

I'll look into the ghosthand 5x5, thank you. As for the Mini QJ 4x4, it was WAY different than the Rubik's 4x4, I had to follow the Eastsheen 4x4 assembly guide: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fRhHxS5YNYQ and it was the exact same except for the last face since I couldn't just take the core center off (those little pieces are a b***h...)

One last thing, if the Mini QJ breaks, what 4x4 would you suggest I should get as a replacement?

For lubing the Mini QJ 4x4, I wouldbreak it in first, and then lube it with either CRC or Jigaloo. a good replacement for it would be a ShengShou.

Lubing the lanlan 2x2 wouldn't hurt. If it doesn't work, you can wash it out.

I will PM you about the 5x5 because of the rules.

Reassembling a mini qj is the same as a Rubik's.

Mini QJ 4x4's are very fragile. Be careful. I dropped mine on carpet from 2 feet up, and it broke beyond repair.

the mini qj is the same as a rubiks 4x4, it just doesnt suck (ball core, structure of pieces are similar). the eastsheen mech is MUCH different. be careful of using spray silicones on ball cores, as the accelerant mildy melts the plastic and can make the cube so loose (smooth and fast, however, uncontrollable/overshoots and causes lockups). i would reccomend not lubing at all and just breaking it in the hard way. this is how i made my full size qj quite good. and FYI, they're not that fragile imho. just dont throw them up against walls or drop from 2 story buildings onto cement.

and, since you dont own a vcube mech cube, you are not even sure what they're trying to protect. not that i agree with vcubes on the guhong, but there is a reason why they try to protect their patent, its a good cube. the v5 is good.

    if you wish to talk about KO cubes, do so in PM. i'll try to help you ^^;

I don't think you have a mini QJ if an eastsheen video was the same as your cube.
