Thread: Speedcubing cube help.

  1. #1

    Default Speedcubing cube help.

I want to start speedcubing. I have an original Rubik's cube, which I lubricated. It turns very smoothly, but I don't feel comfortable with it, so I want to get a DIY speedcube.

My question is: What cube should I get?

I've heard types C and F-II are pretty good, but I'm afraid of getting the wrong cube. I want a cube that has great corner cutting, adjustable tension, good quality stickers, doesn't pop and is very smooth. So, what's the right cube for me?

Thanks in advance for all of those who are willing to help me.

(BTW, I live in Brazil and I may not be able to get some cubes, but I'll try till I can.)

There's another thread on the front page that should help. Welcome to the forums, by the way. Make sure you read the rules.
Why did you "Pet Russ" when you could have "Freed Rich"? | In Soviet Russia, cube solves you.

Thanks. I've already read the rules before posting this topic. I just searched and found nothing. I guess I didn't use some key words...

Get the Dayan Guhong. It is smooth, cuts corners almost 45 degrees, never locks up or pops, it has easy to access screws to adjust the tension, and I've done around 3,000 solves on it with the original stickers and they are still in good shape.

I also recommend the Dayan Guhong. My first speedcube was a F-II. I thought it was good untill i bought the guhong. It turns very smooth.

You can buy it from lightake:

Oh my. It cuts corners just the way I need! I think it's the one I'm looking for. I've seen some reviews and it has all the requirements that I request for a cube.

Just one thing. Is there a white version of it? I kinda don't like the black one...

FWI the stickerless guhong is illegal in competitions, so if you do end up going to one, now you know.

Ok. I think I'll get the one with stickers versions, because the stickerless version is too weird to me...
