Instead of spraying it directly to the surface, I used paper towel to apply the silicon, it works out great so far

I wipe my pieces well real well, using paper towel or cloth, getting off the old gunk (which includes cube dust). Then I reassemble and it sounds crisper. Then I only put a little lube on and it turns great. I used to wash my cube pieces in a sink containing a bit of dishwashing liquid, but now I think wiping them with a cloth or paper towel works better at removing the grundge.

You should spray each piece individually, but just enough so that it's covered with silicone. So spray the pieces for no more than one second each. Then, after waiting about 10 minutes, lightly wipe off the silicone with a paper towel or something in the direction the cube piece moves. What does this do? Makes the silicone smooth before putting it into the cube and makes it go with the direction the cube piece turns. Repeat these steps 3 times for spraying all the sides of every cube piece.

Before, I tried just spraying all the pieces (a lot) and then just letting it dry for like a night, and putting it back in. I have a VERY good Type D cube, did it, and the results weren't very pleasing. So I tried it the way I just told you, and OMG my Type D cuts corner WAY better, spins a lot faster, and is SO smooth!

I've heard about just popping out the UF piece, spraying some silicone in, and working the cube. Is this an OK technique? It eventually seems to work OK. A lot less time consuming than taking the cube apart.

Also I use "Liquid Wrench" which takes about a week of casual cubing to work in. I think it helps a little, but it's a lot worse than other brands I've tried.

Popping out an edge piece is quick, but you may spray the core, which won't turn out good (in my case). Also the silicone won't last as long. When I sprayed the core of a cube, the core would spin so fast that you would think the cube was loose (was actually EXTREMELY tight). The cubies turned VERY slowly on a normal core, but on the lubricated core cube, you could do like 4 face turns. Also LOTS of lockups, and hard to control the cube.

DO NOT use Liquid Wrench. It doesn't work well as Silicone Sprays, it's VERY toxic, and it gives your cube a bad smell. Out of a poll of 69 people (currently as of now) voted in, only one person used Liquid Wrench as their main cube lubricant (he is pcharles93). Here is the poll http://www.speedsolving.com/showthread.php?t=4459

You gotta watch this method. I did this a couple of times with Jigaloo and noticed that it was eating away at the cube where little pools had accumilated. I now always take apart my 3x3, clean, spray, wait 10 minutes, wipe off excess.

4x4 and 5x5 I just spray between the peices because the life span of them being useable is short enough that a little cube eating won't really matter.

Also, DONT USE JIGALOO WITH EASTSHEEN BECAUSE THEY SEIZE UP DUE TO PLASTIC MELT!!
