Thread: preventing inner misalignments of even size V-mech

Default preventing inner misalignments of even size V-mech

Quite possibly discussed before, but new to me and I just realized it.

Background: If you just glue two inside pieces to an inside center, not doing the pin mod, one of the three axes can still get misaligned. For example that YJ 4x4 produced like that.

Now the center piece between/on the two glued pieces will always be there. On my cube, it's a green center piece. So during M-slice edge pairing, I make sure I hold the cube so that green isn't at L or R, which ensures I never get those misalignments during edge pairing. And for parity algs, I hold the cube so that green is at F or B, again preventing misalignments.

This was the first thing that came to my mind when I first heard of the 2 glued pieces mod, but I just don't like to think anything else than cubing itself, while I'm cubing
Luckily with the pin mode I made my V6 an awesome cube, so I don't have to worry about misalignments with it.

I've been using this on my v6 forever. As long as I don't do red/orange as my first 2 centers, I never ever have a misalignment other than during the first centers.

Ah, yes, kind of expected the 6x6 solvers to know this. I hate that thing, only play with 7x7 (sometimes). I might put a logo sticker on that special center to help choosing the safer move if I have a choice or to at least know when a move is safe...

One trick I use is to grip the left half of the cube reallly hard to hold the inner mechanism in place for the first 2 centers.

I use the center logo trick to avoid the misalignments during all the other centers and during edge pairings.

I know this is a n00b question, but why not glue 6 pieces to the core? Does it somehow make bad lock ups of something?
Vaseline is like crack for your cube - it works so well when you put it in but destroys your cube from the inside out later.

This thread is what I thought of when I saw the title. After making my adjustable V6, I used both unequal tension and the glued pieces. Like 4chan, I used the logo for misalignment reference.

If you do that, you won't be able to turn all the layers anymore
