Thread: Times getting inconsistent right before getting faster?

  1. #1

Default Times getting inconsistent right before getting faster?

My times always get very inconsistent right before I get faster. For example back when I was averaging around 28 seconds I started getting extreme high and low times, like a typical average would look like this, 23, 35, 28, 24, 37, then my times fell really fast and became consistent again, more like, 24, 25, 23, 26, 25. Now They are getting inconsistent again, like, 18, 27, 24, 28, 21. I hope that means Im going to get faster soon.

Does anyone else experience these weird averages right before getting faster?

My deviation fell when I was getting faster.
    Eventually, I would get averages like 17, 17, 17, 17, 16, 18.

Yep, that's how I know I'm about to get faster. My times start going all over the place. Right now I'm getting used to a new Megaminx, and I'm averaging around 2:35. But my times range from 2:15 to over 3. One day it'll click and I'll be back down to 2:20, where I was before I switched to my new Meffert's.

Times get inconsistent when I experiment with new things like new algorithms, finger-tricks etc and the times can be catastrophic. They stabilise more when I settle down to a method.

I agree with this theory. I think deviation begins to drop a significant amount from 20s to 15s averages to even lower.

Yup yup yup. I used to have huge gaps in my times with Roux, but once I got sub-25 they were really consistant. If I had gotten down to sub-15 they would have been even more consistant.

If this is the case, then I have been "about to get faster" for about 1 year.
In a typical average of 12, I get about 2 under 25s about 2 over 35s and the rest about 27s.

My times vary by over 10s....
