    Default Meffert's 5x5 modifications.

I just got my Meffert's 5x5 in the mail, and I was wondering what tweaks people have done to make it better. i'm especially hoping to hear from Rama, because his cube looks really nice. Anyone else with meffert's 5x5s that move well, I would love to hear what you did. I'm too lazy to just try things on my own.

Hi there, the Mefferts 5x5 is just mainly a part of turning it in and cleaning it up after three weeks orso and then turn it in and clean it up after two months etc.... Your hands will break, I suggest do 1 solve per hour for a week.

I have the luck that I got an mid 1980's Mefferts 5x5 with adjustable screws in it as a present, thanks to my mom's friend.

I will order the new Mefferts 5x5 too tough, I also want to try it out.

well the one I just got has adjustable centers. They all do. It seems like it could be really nice, once it gets a little looser, but I didn't want to take a screwdriver to it until i got some input from some others.

I bought the one when he said there was the announcement that there would on be 70 left. This is the one that I got. I ctually messed w/ the screws and got it kinda ok. If you have any suggestions for adjusting the tensions, that would be great. I've only been able to sub 2:30 it once, which is kinda lame.

The limited edition one is decent (except a corner broke so I have to be somewhat careful with it), but I won't be getting that one until Pleasantville.

2:20-2:25 average on it the last time I checked; PB on that one is 2:04.xx, I think.

I just ordered one of these limited edition 5x5x5s as well. I'm really curious to see how it turns out. It should be better than my Rubik's 5x5x5 at least. I just want a 5x5x5 that I can solve without my hands/fingers hurting after each time I do it.

well that will definantly happen with these. I'm still tweaking it, but the outer edges seem to turn just as well as the inner. I just have to tweak some tensions and practice w/ it.

Eh, by my second paragraph, I meant the one with the weird white-opposite-red color scheme. I expect that with this cube times will be similar, possibly better because of the Japanese color scheme.

I just got my Mefferts 5x5 mini cube today in the mail.. I have to say that I am rather pleased with it. Lubed it a bit with silicon and it is a dream. Makes me want to order the normal size 5x5 just because. I know I will be getting the 4x4 and 2x2 within the next month... these cubes are just plain better than the Rubiks in my opinion. The only thing I don''t care all that much for is the color scheme. Other than that I love this cube.
