Thread: Just lubed my cube...

    Default Just lubed my cube...

I just lubed my cube I bought from Wal-Mart (got it about a week ago), spraying each side and allowing to dry. I waited about half an hour after it was dry and put it back together.

Now it seems like it is worse now then it was before. It's hard to turn and sticks when I turn. I used a silicon lube spray like I was told.

I mean, will it get better as I cube with it or is something wrong?

It will get better. It feels worse at firstm, but then it should wear in.

Do I need to take it apart and let it dry longer or just play with it a lot?

Just do a couple of solves like that and the silicone will sink in. For some reason, when I lubed my cube, it was loose already.

Wouldnt the issue be that too much was used?

The first few times i did it i reckon maybe i put too much on...and it was quite sticky.

This morning i lubed my cube, left each side to dry for just 15 - 20 minutes (well one side was 40 mins beacuse i forgot) and it moves very smoothly..

In eithercase, wear it in a bit mroe and it will losen up eventually.

I've lubed my Black DIY from Rubik's about 2 times in the past month (since I've had it). It moves relatively smooth but the sound it makes is annoying :-/

Is there ay solution to stopping the annoying sound from the Rubik's DIY?

I found that that the Cube4You DIYs don't have this problem because unlike Rubik's they don't need so much tension to hold the pieces into place without them being able to pop.

I was wondering if maybe it was the spray I used. I sprayed it with "Heavy Duty Liquid Wrench".

It said it was safe on plastic and silicon but I heard someone else say that it screwed up there cube.

Kevin, if your spray can is yellow, then I think I have the same exact stuff as you. It's worked wonders. WIth the right spring tension, I've been able to fly. I just relubed my cube, and in my experience it takes a full 2 days for the cube to full kick in. Play wiht it, do a few averages of 12, and then after 2 days, it'll be amazing.
Bad CO spells the end for me.
