      One more thing, my goals:

Short term: be able to average below 30 sec consistently, with a pb close to 20
Long term: to be able to average below 20, and OH 1 minute (figured I'd get PLL etc right with two hands before seriously working on OH.)

      Thanks again,

      speedpicker: breakdown of skills

Personally, I use CFOP with a 4-6 sec cross (not yet able to solve cross with eyes shut after inspection, I lose track of at least one piece, also probably too many moves), 10-20 sec f2l (poor lookahead, getting better at placing in slots other than FR, trying to use metronome practice with mixed results), 4 LLL 3-7 sec OLL (depending on edge orientation after f2l), 7-9 PLL (have begun learning 1 look PLL, have a document on forum with the approach/algs I am using). Personal best single: 24.03, pb avg of 5 29.01, usually more like 35 seconds for a typical solve.

      Thanks in advance,

I was very interested in your excellent post about optimising your cube practice time.

As a 33 year old with a full time job and a wife and child, I find that it is very difficult to optimise my practice time and would very much appreciate your advice on the best way to focus on my weaknesses and make the most rapid progress in the limited time available for me. I am really looking forward to your advice, reading your post immediately made me think that this was exactly what I am looking for. I will post again in a moment with my opinion of my current skills, as I ran over the character limit.

      Thanks in advance, speedpicker
