Hi, the NUS maths society is planning to organise the 'Singapore Special 2013' in this coming Sept.

Please ignore the poll on top, and vote here: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/1-sT...t4BiQ/viewform

The competition will be held on either 21/09 (Sat) or 14/09 (Sat)
So we would like to know which day you prefer or more likely to come. Please kindly inform us by voting as soon as possible.
If the competition clashes with your school events but you still want to come to the competition, we can write an invitation letter to your school.

The following events will be included:

Rubik's Cube: Fewest moves
Rubik's Cube: With feet
Megaminx
Pyraminx
Square-1
Rubik's Clock
6x6 Cube
7x7 Cube
4x4 Cube: Blindfolded
5x5 Cube: Blindfolded
Rubik's Cube: Multiple Blindfolded

Other events such as normal Rubik's Cube will not be included, as this competition is mainly to provide opportunities in competing in those special events which cubers have less chance to compete in Singapore or other countries around.

Happy cubing!

The Indiana 2013 competition will be held in Fishers, Indiana on August 24, 2012.

http://koii.cubingusa.com/Indiana2013/

12 of the 17 events in one day this year. Same venue as the last few years.

FAQ:
1. Why August, instead of November, like last year?
Sorry for the change; the venue wasn't available in early November this year. I'm hoping that the competition is early enough in the school year that, even if people have started, they won't have too much schoolwork piled up yet, so they'll be able to attend.
2. Why are the cutoff times for some of the puzzles tougher than in previous years?
I made them a little more stringent this year so we wouldn't get in trouble with time, in case the competition is big again this year like it was last year.
3. Why no 6x6x6?
So there's time for 7x7x7. We had 6x6x6 last year, and I'll try to have them again next year.
4. Why no fewest moves, 4x4x4 BLD, or 5x5x5 BLD?
So there's time for 3x3x3 multiBLD. We had fewest moves, 4x4x4 BLD and 5x5x5 BLD last year, and I'll try to have them again next year.
5. Why no pyraminx?
So we'll hopefully have time for everything else. It's a pretty tight schedule as is; hopefully everyone will help out as needed so we can have another successful competition. Again, we had pyraminx last year, and I'll try to have it again next year.

(I'll add to these as I get questions.)

Hi!

Registration has opened for this years swedish championship. It's open for people of all nationalities but of course only swedish citizens can become the swedish champion. :)

This year the championship will be held in Gothenburg, and it takes place at September 14-15th. We will have all official events. Only exception is that FMC can't be combined with bigBLD since they will run simultaneously.

Participation fee will be 100SEK, which includes a competition T-shirt. Swedish citizens have to pay on advance, but this is not neccesary for foreigners since it's a bit more complicated for them.

Registration can be done here: http://www.worldcubeassociation.org/...ampionship2013

The Thailand Championship happened this weekend, but I didn't see a thread about it (since few Thai cubers are active here). But I wanted to post my observations:
- For the size of the Thai cubing community, they have lots of very good solvers (and a few who weren't at this competition). I think this has to do with the Thai work ethic.
- This competition was probably the most well organized and professionally run competition I've ever been to. The stage was well setup, the sitting area was perfectly placed, the scrambling and data entry were stationed well, there was a small table to buy cubes, there was a cord that roped off the correct distance from the competitors, and the competition was held in a massive mall. Lots of spectators, and also lots of places for cubers to sit. The competition went smooth and was by no means rushed. The custom made displays worked awesome. One thing that would have been nicer is if there were a couple tables on the side for people to sit at and cube.
- Thai's are friendly people. It is a great way to practice Thai. I really need to study more.
- There were some strange Thai TV shows interviewing people. One guy had a mask on and was acting like a freak. I think it was a comedy.
- I did terrible, but as always, I'm more motivated to practice.
- I failed at 4x4, and BLD (off by a T-perm on a solve that would have won the event).

Overall, excellent competition. It was a great pleasure to be part of such a great community. The rest of the world should use a competition like this as a model for how competitions should be run.

I will likely post some pictures here soon if you're interested.

Edit: The photographer at the competition posted some excellent pictures here:

Hey guys. Since my last Canberra competition was such a success, I've decided to organize another one in Canberra. However, due to circumstances beyond my control, the venue we used for the last comp will no longer be avaliable to us :( Finding a venue shouldn't be a major issue for now though. The events will most likely be 2x2, 3x3, 4x4, 5x5, OH, and maybe something else if we have time. Just vote on the poll what days you would be able to attend and hopefully the comp will be a great success like last time :)
