We know there are 12 orbits of the cube. It is assumed that the probability of randomly assembling the cube and having a solvable puzzle is 1 in 12.

Have we checked that?

I was thinking of all the ways it's possible to misassemble the cube.

1) Clockwise corner twist (1 in 3 chance)

2) Counter-Clockwise corner twist (1 in 3 chance)

3) Edge flipped (1 in 2 chance)

4) Two edges swapped (1 in ? chance)

5)**Two corners swapped** (1 in ? chance)

The last part is a mistake you could make assembling the cube. Now because of 4-cycle moves like the T-Perm and F-Perm two corners swapped is indistinguishable from two edges. They will show up as the same PLL parity error.

If you make mistake #4**and** mistake #5 randomly assembling the cube they cancel each other out - there is no observable mistake. A cube assembled with two edges swapped and two corners swapped is solvable with a F-Perm/T-perm.

I was thinking that instead of 12 orbits there were 14 orbits but two pairs of orbits were conjoined. That is the solvable orbit is conjoined with the two edges and two corners swapped orbit. The two edges swapped orbit is conjoined with the two corners swapped orbit. I hypothesized that this produces a 2/14 chance of randomly assembling a solvable cube. 1/7 when simplified.

To test it I disassembled a cube into a brown paper paper bag, shook up the bag, reassembled the cube randomly and tried to see if it was solvable. Kept track of 50 random assemblies. If my theory was correct I should get 7.1 solvable cubes. If the conventional theory was correct I should get 4.1 solvable assemblies.

I got six.

favorable from the angle!

the algorithm is also fingertrick-friendly! :

it's simply a setup move ( R U R' U ) then J perm then undo the setup move :)

Hello! I'm Jefferen if you didn't see my username. I'm from Denmark, and i've been cubing for about half a year. I'm 13 years old, soon 14, and all my PB's that i can remember will be right under this text.

I have alot of 3x3's, two 2x2's and 4x4's, one 5x5, one pyraminx, one megaminx, one 3x3x2, a mixup cube that's broken, a fisher cube, and a mirror blocks.

My mains are:

3x3: Moyu Aolong v1

2x2: Moyu Linglong

4x4: Moyu Aosu

5x5: Shengshou

Pyraminx: Shengshou

Skewb: Shengshou

3x3:

PB: 14.78 sec.

Average: 17.90 sec.

One handed PB: 56.10 sec.

One handed average: (I havn't done one of these yet)

4x4:

PB: 1.20'ish min.

Average: 1.40'ish min.

5x5:

PB: about 4 min.

Average: 4.30'ish min.

Pyraminx:

Average: 12'ish sec.

Skewb:

PB: 15 sec.

Average: 20 sec.

2x2:

PB: 1.68 sec.

Average: 5 sec.

And i can solve a megaminx too...

If you have any support or questions just ask:)

try it! :) by the end of the video, the Mini Aolong was amazing for me! :)

I made another video of a Unique Vperm alg on my page, so go check that out too! :)

still not sub nr so sad lol

Hi everyone here in the forum! I'm Xav, a 21-year-old cuber from Malaysia. I started speed cubing in 2008 and I've participated in 12 WCA competitions.

I joined all WCA official events except 3x3 multi-blindfolded, 4x4blindfolded and 5x5 blindfolded. Click here to see my WCA official results. I also play other puzzles that are not in WCA events.

You can watch my speed cubing videos in the Rubik's Cube playlist in my YouTube channel.

Other than speed cubing, I have a lot of hobbies including

Pen Spinning, Dice Stacking, Butterfly Knife, Zippo Lighter, Tetris, Minesweeper, 2048, Jubeat, Cytus,

and more to come in the future.

I am not really skilled in these hobbies but I am constantly improving. One of the purposes of creating this channel is to be noob guides of the hobbies. I hope I can help newbies picking up new hobbies by providing them direction.

I've just uploaded the 100th video to my YouTube Channel! I hope you like it!

I'd like to make friends with everyone of you! You can contact me through Facebook. Nice to meet you all! Again, I am Xav! XD

hey all. I'm new here and new to speed cubing, though I've been solving the 3x3 for 7 or so years. I got a 4x4 2 years ago for fun, learned it and put it on the shelf. About a month ago i was watching youtube and got the itch to get back into cubing. I'm a student and my wife and i are expecting out second child. While I'm stoked to grow our family, it does leave the wallet strapped for spending cash. I used some funds to get a better 3x3 (Sulong and a sticker less Zanchi) to learn to speed cube and want to get a 4x4 but it will have to wait.

I researched a lot of options on how to make this cube better. It locks on my non stop and the center edges pop up a dozen times every solve. I found RC shop in my little down and picked up some Diff Lube for 4$ and took apart and cleaned the pieces. I noticed on all the center pieces that there was a sprue from casting on the underside of the piece. It made contact with the center of the core and seemed to get in the way. I shaved it off and added some of the diff lube. I have to say I'm shocked at how much better it is. It is loud and clanky sounding but moves much better and seemed to pop and lock less. While I'm sure its nothing like the 4x4 speed cubes (which I'm dying to try) I think this just might get me through until i can get one.

I doubt this is informative to anyone here, but I feel pretty stoked on my small accomplishment.

Thought I might as well make one of these. So ya, hi, I'm thatoneguy2 in case you decided to not read my username for some reason. I first started cubing about 4 years ago but stopped after maybe a year or so. I got back into cubing at the about beginning of this year and to my surprise was able to beat my PB within a week or so, and I've been slowly getting faster since then.

I use standard CFOP (still don't know most of the OLLs though) and average around 18-19 seconds with the Moyu Aolong. Also have a 4x4 (average around 1:30), a 2x2 (average around 6 seconds), a megaminx, a square-1 and a 7x7.

That's about it...live in Colorado in the US but never been to a comp yet, still trying to improve that cross. :p Might not see all that much of me since I just mostly lurk on these forums.

How do you execute RL moves in an alg? Or, do you prefer to avoid algs with this move in general?
